Enjoy this Wild West day where kids can create a cowboy vest, cattle brand or outlaw wanted poster, take part in a “cattle round-up” scavenger hunt as well as a “cattle drive.” Come dressed up in Western attire. Free event.

September 29-30. 9 a.m.-10:30 a.m. Free fishing class at Dockweiler Beach!



Come enjoy a beautiful morning of fishing from the shores of Dockweiler Beach!

The Dept. of Beaches & Harbors is offering a FREE introductory shore fishing class. Fishing poles and bait will be provided at no cost.

TYPES OF FISH CAUGHT: Anglers typically catch surfperch, croaker, corbina, halibut, and leopard shark.

AGES: All ages are welcome, but anyone under the age of 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

REGISTRATION: Limited to 10 participants per session, so call (310) 726-4128 to pre-register.

September 8. 10 a.m. FREE Build and Grow Clinic at Lowes. Bring your child to Lowes and they can build a project. The kids get goggles and an apron and a kit to build an item. They use hammers their size and get a patch afterward for completing the project. Lowes has changed their policy.  If you do not sign up ahead, you’ll need to wait until 10:15 and then if there are projects left you can make one.  Also, you need to make the project there. 


September 8 - Kids Rhythm Club @ Remo

Have you been to a Remo drum circle yet? It's Kids Jam Time. Where everyone gets permission to make noise which turns into rhythm and song!! Come & enjoy group drumming with your family and friends every Saturday morning and the first Sunday of each month. A kid's drum circle appears to build self-confidence, self-esteem, expands the musical imagination and nurtures creative thinking. Instead of "sit down", "be quiet", and "don't touch"; now it’s time to jam with parents and meet new friends! Parents and/or guardian must remain with children.

Topic for this meeting: Mountain lions and their prey, especially deer. Learn about and study a real deer skeleton. September 1. 9 a.m.-12 p.m. (Every first Saturday of the month). Home Depot's Free Kids Workshop. The workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills and tool safety, while at the same time helping to instill a sense of accomplishment. In addition to the newly constructed project kit, each child receives a kid-sized orange apron, similar to The Home Depot associates' aprons, and an achievement pin.

August 25 - Public Star Parties @ Griffith Observatory

Free public star parties are held monthly with the assistance of the Los Angeles Astronomical Society and the Los Angeles Sidewalk Astronomers at the Griffith Observatory from 2:00 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. They are a chance for the whole family to look at the sun, moon, visible planets, and other objects, to try out a variety of telescopes, and to talk to knowledgeable amateur astronomers about the sky and their equipment.

Please be aware that the astronomers and telescope demonstrators must cut off the line for each telescope to enable all viewing to be completed by 9:45 p.m. Hours for telescope operation are not the same as for the building (which closes at 10:00 p.m.).

10th Annual Fourth of July Fireworks Extravaganza
Where: Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum (Exposition Park)

Details: Beginning at noon, KJLH will present live entertainment on stage at the east end of Christmas Tree Lane, just north of the Sports Arena. There will be food vendors and activities for kids of all ages. The fireworks show will get underway at around 9 p.m. and will feature a full 60 minute pyrotechnic display set to music.
18th Annual Hansen Dam Fireworks Spectacular

Details: A fun-filled, family-friendly event highlighted by the “Spirit of America” fireworks show. Cool off with a swim in the 1.5-acre lake, then enjoy music performances, military flyover, food vendors, exhibitors, waterslide kid zone, raffles and more. 
14th Annual 4th of July Spectacular presented by Shepherd of the Hills Church and Shapell Homes; one the largest 4th of July shows in all of Southern California. This event features an aerial fireworks presentation, inflatable "moon bounces" for the kids and a wide variety of local food vendors. Gates open at 4:30 p.m.

You can bring lawn chairs, blankets, sun umbrellas (taken down at dusk), food & drinks, cooler (will be searched) and sunscreen.  No alcohol, glass bottles or animals.

We have FREE ample parking all around the event. You may park your car in the lot on the NW corner of Rinaldi Street and Porter Ranch Drive or in the Town Center parking lot (where signs indicate). There is also parking along the East-side of Corbin Avenue.
