August 31. 6 p.m. Free weekly jazz concerts at LACMA. BP Grand Entrance. No reservations needed.


August 31-September 1. Salvation Army is having a two day 50% off sale.  Some restrictions apply (furniture is probably one of the exceptions).

September 1. 9 a.m.-12 p.m. (Every first Saturday of the month). Home Depot's Free Kids Workshop. The workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills and tool safety, while at the same time helping to instill a sense of accomplishment. In addition to the newly constructed project kit, each child receives a kid-sized orange apron, similar to The Home Depot associates' aprons, and an achievement pin.

September 1 - Kids Rhythm Club @ Remo

Have you been to a Remo drum circle yet? It's Kids Jam Time. Where everyone gets permission to make noise which turns into rhythm and song!! Come & enjoy group drumming with your family and friends every Saturday morning and the first Sunday of each month. A kid's drum circle appears to build self-confidence, self-esteem, expands the musical imagination and nurtures creative thinking. Instead of "sit down", "be quiet", and "don't touch"; now it’s time to jam with parents and meet new friends! Parents and/or guardian must remain with children.
Where: The Remo Recreational Music Center - 7308 Coldwater Canyon, North Hollywood, CA 91605
When: 9:30 AM - 10:05 AM (Also at 11:00AM-11:45AM)

September 1. 5 p.m.-7 p.m. Latin Sounds in Hancock Park. (Free event every Saturday 5 pm–7 pm, May through September). Dorothy Collins Brown Amphitheater at LACMA, in Hancock Park north of the museum.



September 2. 6 p.m. FREE weekly concerts at LACMA. (Los Angles County Museum of Art). These one-hour concerts are presented free to the public on Sundays in the Leo S. Bing Theater. September 4. Free day for La Brea Tar Pits and the Natural History Museum.
September 4. 5 p.m. FREE LEGO® mini model build at the Glendale Galleria LEGO store, the first Tuesday of each month. One free per child. This month make a lego flower. Event is open to children ages 6 to 14 only. 2148 Glendale Galleria, Glendale, 91210. (818) 549-0733.
September 4. Kidspace Museum will be closed from September 4-8, so no free day this month.  
September 6. 2 p.m.-6 p.m. $1 Fall Beverages at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Open House. Choose from 12 oz. Amaretto Latte or Amaretto Ice Blended® drink or Pumpkin Latte or Pumpkin Ice Blended® drink.
 


$1 from each Open House beverage purchased will be donated directly to Feeding America® to help in the fight against hunger.





Ongoing Deals

You can get free movie tickets to upcoming screenings by registering with Nielsen at www.mymovieview.com.  With screenings you need to arrive early and get in line, but a free movie is great! 

Upcoming Deals

September 19-20, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. $6. Homeschool Day at Aquarium of the Pacific. While the Aquarium will be open to the general public, no classroom-based school trips will be booked during these days. This will allow the educators to bring ocean related activities and biofacts throughout the morning. These engaging learning stations will allow students of all ages to experiment, investigate, and explore marine habitats and concepts.

August 25 - Public Star Parties @ Griffith Observatory

Free public star parties are held monthly with the assistance of the Los Angeles Astronomical Society and the Los Angeles Sidewalk Astronomers at the Griffith Observatory from 2:00 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. They are a chance for the whole family to look at the sun, moon, visible planets, and other objects, to try out a variety of telescopes, and to talk to knowledgeable amateur astronomers about the sky and their equipment.

Please be aware that the astronomers and telescope demonstrators must cut off the line for each telescope to enable all viewing to be completed by 9:45 p.m. Hours for telescope operation are not the same as for the building (which closes at 10:00 p.m.).

August 25-26. 10 a.m. on Saturday, 2 p.m. on Sunday. FREE Build and Grow Clinic at Lowes. Bring your child to Lowe's and they can build a project. The kids get goggles and an apron and a kit to build an item. They use hammers their size and get a patch afterward for completing the project.
